2025 PA Canoe Sprint Champs Wrap

The 2025 edition of the Paddle Australia Canoe Sprint Champs returned to Penrith from Wednesday the 12th to Sunday the 16th of March 2025.

Over 230 paddlers including 33 Queenslanders took to the water as part of the 2025 PQ Canoe Sprint State Team in a range of kayaks and canoes over distances of 1000, 500 and 200m.

Queensland paddlers secured 38 Gold, 29 Silver and 23 Bronze Medals almost doubling the 2024 tally with the Currumbin Creek Paddlers Club rounding out the Top 5 Clubs of the Championships for the second year in a row.

Paddle Queensland would like to once again congratulate the 2025 Canoe Sprint State Team Members: Andy Ross, Asa Poland, Bill McGuinn, Caitlyn Bowell, Ciara Quigley, Connor Riches, Dane Rayward, Hannah Truscott, Hayden Lano, Heidi Smith, Hudson Ash, Jack Whitfort, Jasmin Lane, Joel Maritz, Kaiden Scott, Killian Quigley, Koa Brodie, Leila Furness, Leila Moody, Nixon Wallace, Riley Scott, Taj Purcell, Taylah Smith-Miller, Thomas Peters, Tom Messenger and Walter Nichols.

Paddle Queensland would also like to congratulate the following paddlers who achieved performance standards and qualified for the following representative teams:

Junior World Championships:
Byron Dieckmann and Bianca Rayward

U23 World Championships:
Jake Morris, Pierre van der Westhuyzen, Alyssa Bailey, Claudia Bailey and Jasmine Rayward

U16 Asia Pacific Cup:
