Battle of the Paddle – Fraser Coast Paddlefest

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the return of the Fraser Coast Paddlefest, a truly unique event focused on the mental and physical benefits paddling provides the community which takes place on Saturday the 9th (Battle of the Paddle) and Sunday the 10th (Hervey Bay Ocean Classic) of September 2023 on the stunning waters of Hervey Bay in conjunction with The Hervey Bay Masters.

For those new to paddling, the Battle of the Paddle events are the perfect place to bring your friends and family to the beach and experience all the fun and excitement paddling can provide over a 500 m ‘M’ shaped course on Nelo 510 polyurethane ocean skis.

Battle of the Paddle is an event concept designed to be an enjoyable, engaging entry into paddling and to build bridges between flatwater, ocean, surf and river paddling.

Over the course of two hours our coaches will be teaching participants from eight to eighty about the basic skills of paddling including entries, exits, rescues, balance, forward strokes, reverse strokes and turning which they will then use to battle their friends and family on Nelo 510 polyurethane ocean skis around a 500m technical course while staying close to shore.

To finish each program, all paddlers will experience the rush our Olympians experience when they take to the start line and battle for one last time as a Canoe Sprint athlete over a 100m course.

The Battle of the Paddle program is about creating a community of paddlers and building. opportunities to connect paddlers to learn, compete, achieve and enjoy being on the water.
