Governance Support for Paddle Clubs

Governance Support for Paddle Clubs

In recognition of the vital work our clubs and members do to support the paddle community, Paddle Australia and the State Paddle Associations are excited to offer tailored governance training designed specifically for our paddle clubs. These sessions will provide practical insights and examples to help streamline the efficient running of club committee meetings.

The training includes two topics: Club Committee Governance and Club President Governance. We encourage two members from each club committee to attend and ask club presidents to participate in both topics for maximum benefit.

Rosalie Evans, Paddle WA (PWA) Executive Officer, shared:
“Having sat virtually on Margot’s session during the National Paddle Forum, she really knows her stuff. We at PWA learnt heaps and have incorporated several changes into our board meetings, agendas, and minutes.”

Club Committee Governance
This topic is tailored to club committee members to enhance their understanding of governance best practice, their roles and the importance / confidence to speak up and ask questions about making decisions in the best interests of the organisation. We encourage anyone currently on a club committee or hoping to get involved, regardless of your level of knowledge or experience, to join.

  • Session 1: Monday, 17 March, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM  (AEDT)
  • Session 2: Thursday, 27 March, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM  (AEDT)

Club President Governance
This session focuses specifically on the role and responsibilities of a club president. It will ensure presidents understand the legal, fiduciary and financial requirements and are prepared to use the foundation documents (constitution, charters, policies) to guide them in the making of decisions. It will also support how meetings are facilitated to ensure all members feel supported and heard.

  • Session 3: Monday, 28 April, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM  (AEDT)
  • Session 4: Wednesday, 7 May, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM  (AEDT)

The sessions will be conversational in nature with practical tips and tricks to support your work! To allow participants to speak freely, the sessions will not be recorded.
