A total 89 paddlers entered (including SUPs). 63 Paddlers from 22 clubs of varying disciplines and crafts lined up to compete in Race 3 Wetland Wanders at Shorncliffe, hosted by Sandgate Paddling Club.

The race was Sandgate’s 25th hosting of this Annual Event, first commencing back on July 18th, 1996.

Jason Keating narrowly beating young hotshot Llewllyn Bassett for line honours followed by Barry Haden and Gavin Cook on the 18km long course. The pack led from start to finish with a narrow difference of just 35 seconds from first to fourth.

Julian Norton-Smith donned the paddling gear and took out line honours narrowly beating Grant Cook by 0.5 of a second, Mark Greer placing a comfortable third in the 12km medium course.

Helyn Kellermeier took line honours in the 6km short course, closely followed by Chris Hurley looking very relaxed and happy to be back in the K1 saddle, Riley Scott coming third.

Samantha Blanchard took out the Ladies Kimberly Cup, in honour of Kimberly Mustchin. Unfortunately, Samantha was unable to accept her prize of a beautiful hamper donated by the Hon Anika Wells, we look forward to presenting her prize as soon as possible.

It was great to see so many people and clubs coming together relaxing and catching up with mates, after they had put their all into their race day. Those that chose to hang around were rewarded with prizes in the boat number draw.
