Volunteers are the backbone of sport and recreation in Queensland, but the sector is facing significant challenges. Volunteering Queensland’s State of the Sector Report 2024 revealed a 10% decline in volunteering rates since 2020, impacting clubs, organisations, and communities across the state. The Local Government, Small Business and Customer Service Committee is conducting an Inquiry into volunteering in Queensland, and public consultation is now open. This is a crucial opportunity for sporting organisations, clubs, peak bodies, and local governments to share their experiences and insights to help shape the future of volunteering in Queensland.
